In the best interest of the health of their guests, many event organizers are canceling or postponing events in and around Athens until such time as the COVID-19 virus is under control or completely eradicated.

We will continue to update our Events Page with the status of events AS WE ARE INFORMED OF THEM. Prior to attending any local event, we encourage you to contact the organizer to confirm that it is, in deed, occurring.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!!

This month we celebrate Spring and the beauty of nature at the East Texas Arboretum.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the grounds of the arboretum have remained open for individuals to visit, commune with nature, and relieve some of the stresses of today's headlines.

If you follow the arboretum's Facebook page, you've been treated to a variety of beautiful photographs such as the one featured here. These photos do not do the grounds justice.

Consider stopping in at the East Texas Arboretum the next time you feel "caged" by the restrictions of self-quarantine.  The arboretum is open daily M-W-S-S from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and extended hours on T-Th-F from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m

In response to the need for facial masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, the residents of the Lila Lane Outreach dba Men's Life Recovery Ministry have been busy sewing cloth masks for anyone in need. The masks are free, but donations are encouraged.

For additional information about this great local non-profit, or to contact them regarding the purchase of a mask, click HERE.

In recent months, the restraints of the COVID-19 pandemic have seen the cancellation of a number of events typically held in Athens.

With the gradual reopening of the State of Texas, we are seeing the return of many of these events. We would encourage you to reach out to the event organizers to confirm the event prior to attending.
