Blood, Sweat, and Tears
Updated: Nov 15, 2019
Today, I did something for me. I donated blood. How was this for me, you ask? It's like this - my blood is literally a part of me and when I donate it to a total stranger, I truly feel as though I've become a little bit better of an individual because I've helped someone else live. Yes, it's corny, but for those of you who have ever donated blood, I'd almost bet you know exactly what I mean.
Perhaps you've noticed the Carter Blood Care bus at Walmart during a recent shopping trip. They are there every month on the second Tuesday of the month seeking your help with blood donations. Typically, they are on hand from 2pm until 6pm.
But once a month isn't enough. If you would like to donate blood, you're always welcomed to stop in at the Carter Blood Care offices on Baxter Street in Tyler. Or, better still, work with your employer to schedule a blood drive for your business! In addition to the drive at Brookshire's where I donated blood today, the Athens Whataburger held a successful drive on December 27th, and you'll notice Berta Winn's smiling face in photos from a blood drive recently hosted by McDonald's. It's easy to sponsor a drive! Just visit
and click on GET CONNECTED. Your request will be sent directly to Carter Blood Care.
As 2017 comes to a close, please remember that there are many individuals who rely on YOUR blood (literally), sweat (by virtue of volunteering) and tears (ALL need your compassion). Please join me in making 2018 a year in which we all get connected in our community in one form or another!
